Richard trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney Australia.
Early on, he became well known for his regular roles in the two Australian television series; Neighbours and Home and Away, and more recently on Emmerdale here in the UK. He also worked extensively for both the Sydney and Melbourne Theatre Companies in numerous classical theatre productions such as Noel Cowards ‘Design for Living’, Martin Crimps ‘The Misanthrope’, and Oscar Wilds ‘An Ideal Husband’.
Since moving to the UK in 2003, Richard has enjoyed leading roles in theatre productions in the West End, including ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’ at the Palace Theatre, in which he was lucky enough to have the chance to play both the role of Tick and the coveted role of Bernadette. Other West End theatre roles include ‘Strictly Ballroom’ at the Piccadilly Theatre, and ‘High Society’ at the Old Vic.
His love of theatre performing has seen him tour the UK, Germany, Canada, Australia and the US, in musical theatre productions and plays, both modern and classical.
Richard also is the voice of several characters in the CBBC/Netflix animation series; ‘Bottersnikes and Gumbles’.
He loves the idea of inspiring young people to explore and reach their full potential through the study of acting and has taken master classes and theatre workshops throughout his career both here, and in Australia. He is really thrilled and excited about joining the team at HAYA!
